You’d think the crime lords of Jack’s city would let him have one night off. But it seems that’s not in the cards! Not even days after defeating the evil doctor, the city finds itself in distress yet again! While a party’s held in honour of our hero, Don Crabby decides he wants to make off with the entertainment! Jack Hammer has to fight back the goons, rescue the girl, and make sure Don Crabby sleeps with the fishes.
Considering there’s a kidnapped singer, we were hoping for a tune or two to play while we spun the reels. Jack Hammer 2’s RTP is 97.07%, which is a whole percentage point higher than the current average! However, the special features have seen a slight downgrade, in our eyes. Sticky wins make a return. You can only win 20 extra turns instead of 30, and your prizes during free spins are doubled, not tripled. However, the jackpot is 3000x, the same as in the original.
While there are some improvements to the graphics, they aren’t substantial enough to warrant us talking about it. We see the same style has been used. The quality of each symbol is better, but there’s still a lack of cool animations and detailed backgrounds. In terms of fun, we found the original Jack Hammer to have been more engaging. Considering their maximum win is the same, you can play whichever one suits you better.
The sequel dives even deeper into the low variance waters! Despite the increased RTP, we found it was easier to win big in the original slot. The developers choosing to downgrade the bonuses doesn’t sit well with us. After all, sequels should be upgrades to the original game, not downgrades that bring nothing new to the table.
Your coin range can be set between ₹1.00 and ₹50.00 per spin. By changing their coin value and bet level, players are able to adjust their total bet! You can play this NetEnt release for a minimum of ₹50, or you can go all out and wager ₹2500 for each spin! We’re sure casual gamblers are grumbling at the steep minimal stake, but it does pay off. After all, you get 99 paylines for the price of 50, which is almost double the value.
Like before, the icon designs are used to tell the story. Several symbols showcase the escape – the microphone, the open instrument case, the knocked over barrels and the speeding boat. Another icon shows the pier where the kidnapped singer is. The last batch of symbols are the goons, Don Crabby, the singer Pearl, and Jack Hammer himself! A robotic eel is the Scatter, and is used to activate free spins. The jackpot for this slot is 3000x your total stake.
Sticky Wins: Each time you collect three or more Scatters, or a winning combination happens, this bonus is triggered. The positions that created the win are locked in place, while all other reels re-spin. If new icons extend the winning combination, then another re-spin is played. This continues until no new symbols appear, or the reels is completely full of a single icon. Either way, the player gets their win, and Sticky Wins end.
Free Spins: Collect five or more Scatters to activate the free spins special feature. Five, six, seven and eight Scatters grant ten, thirteen, sixteen or twenty extra turns, respectively. Collecting more than eight Scatters will not affect the number of free spins. During this bonus, all wins are doubled. If you win more free spins, the multiplier does not apply to them.
We wish we could say that there’s a noticeable difference between the two, but there really wasn’t. The visual improvements we noticed were minor things. We like the scroll effect when you browse the paytable, and the additional details for each symbol. There’s still a chronic lack of cool animations and interesting background images, but those will have to wait, it seems.
But while we can forgive stagnating graphics, we cannot do the same for gameplay. Jack Hammer 2 plays far too similarly to the original for our liking. It even has the same jackpot! Personally, we still prefer the original, and recommend that you stick to it, as well.
